J Reid Engineering Installs New CNC Plasma Cutter

After 17 years of continuous use, our previous plasma cutter has been retired and replaced with a new system from Esprit Automation. The new machine features a 4m x 2m cutting bed and is fitted with a Hypertherm XPR 170 plasma unit, which delivers high-definition cutting performance.

This upgrade allows us to produce cleaner, more accurate cuts across a range of materials, improving overall efficiency and reducing the need for secondary processing. The system provides results approaching laser quality, while retaining the versatility and speed associated with plasma cutting.

Importantly, the machine operates using the same control software as our previous unit. This meant our fabrication team were able to begin using it immediately after installation, avoiding downtime and maintaining continuity in production.
